Account Executive

Austin, TX
Full Time
Mid Level

Interplanetary Help Desk is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that produces benefit concerts for other nonprofits. We help great causes raise money while supporting music venues and musicians. It’s a game-changer in nonprofit fundraising – and a ton of fun. We’re bringing people together for joyous nights of social connection.

We need you to sell $5,000 - $50,000 sponsorships to local businesses, while building and managing a robust pipeline. This is an inside sales role with no travel and local prospects. We’ll back you up with great lead-gen support and fantastic sales materials. We’re using Salesforce to manage the process, and it’s full of good clean leads.

You need to be a great communicator who can tell our story – and connect it to each sponsor’s needs. Much of the sale is done via email and social media, so excellent written selling skills are a must.

We have a mission-driven product, a respectful work environment, and a sales process that deeply values relationships. Making a sale is never more important than making a friend. You show up with a low-ego, high-impact mindset, always focused on what best serves the mission and strengthens the connection.

Our model is simple: We produce a fundraiser concert and the nonprofit partner sells the tickets. The venue manages the show. The band gets paid well. The nonprofit keeps all the ticket revenue (yes, ALL the ticket revenue). We cover the cost through sponsorships. Everyone wins. Read the details at interplanetary.org.

Your job

  • Identify and engage potential sponsors. Make contact, understand their brand goals, and build a relationship.
  • Master our messaging and storytelling. Share the pitch, create enthusiasm, and explain the value we create for our sponsors, nonprofit partners, the music community, and broader social impact of our work.
  • Manage outreach, negotiation, and closing of partnership deals. Build and maintain a pipeline of 100 active accounts, moving prospects through every stage with discipline and care.
  • Steward sponsor relationships and communicate our impact with the goal of securing renewals and expanding long-term partnerships.

What we're looking for

  • Proven experience in BtoB sales or large-donor nonprofit fundraising. At least 2-4 years in a direct selling role. Strong background in new business development, lead generation, and client relationships.
  • Excellent communicator and strong writer. You're comfortable and articulate with senior-level executives in person, on the phone, and in email/social media.
  • Relationship-building skills. Sociable, caring, engaging, and approachable person who can build meaningful relationships.
  • Relentless perseverance and tenacity. You're a committed, driven winner with grit. You can hit the phones all day long, brush off rejection, and stick with it because you know that what you're selling is truly meaningful.
  • Meticulous attention to detail. We love a nice clean database with accurate notes.
  • Mission-driven. Passionate about doing work that has a meaningful impact on society. Show deep commitment at a personal level to the people we serve, the work we do, and our team.
  • Positive attitude. Cheerful-but-driven, great teammate, enjoys winning as a team, enthusiastic, good humor, adaptable, and raises the energy level in a room.
